Measures IgM antibodies to Helicobacter pylori. IgM may rise early after infection, but blood antibody tests cannot reliably confirm active infection.
Sometimes ordered when H. pylori infection is suspected in people with stomach pain or ulcers, but stool antigen or breath tests are usually better for detecting active infection.
