SPOT-MAS 10 is a blood-based multi-cancer early detection test designed to identify molecular signals associated with 10 cancer types from a single blood sample. The test analyses cell-free DNA circulating in the blood using multiple molecular features, including genetic, epigenetic and DNA fragmentation patterns. These signals are assessed using machine-learning models to determine whether a cancer-associated signal is detected and, when possible, indicate the likely tissue or organ of origin.
SPOT-MAS is intended as a complementary cancer screening test for people without a known cancer diagnosis. It does not diagnose cancer and does not replace established screening such as mammography, cervical screening, colorectal screening or low-dose CT for eligible people. A positive result requires further medical assessment and diagnostic testing.

How It Works
A blood sample is collected using the dedicated SPOT-MAS collection kit. Cell-free DNA is isolated from plasma and analysed for several cancer-associated molecular patterns. Unlike conventional single tumour-marker tests, SPOT-MAS combines multiple DNA characteristics with machine-learning analysis to screen for signals associated with several cancers simultaneously. The laboratory report indicates whether a cancer-associated signal has been detected and may provide information about the predicted tissue of origin.
Who May Consider This Test?
This test may be considered by adults who:
- Want broader cancer screening from a single blood sample
- Are looking for screening beyond cancers covered by established screening programmes
- Have no current cancer diagnosis but want additional preventive screening
- Do not necessarily have a family history of cancer
Important Information
This is a screening test, not a diagnostic test.
A positive result does not confirm cancer. Further investigation, which may include medical consultation, imaging, endoscopy or biopsy, is required to determine whether cancer is present.
A negative result does not completely exclude cancer. SPOT-MAS should therefore be used in addition to, rather than instead of, recommended cancer screening programmes.
This test does not assess inherited genetic susceptibility to cancer. People with a strong personal or family history of cancer may still benefit from hereditary cancer genetic testing and genetic counselling.
The test is not intended for people with a known cancer diagnosis.
